**The tattoo was completed by Daniel Rotundo, who specializes in traditional Japanese/Geometric Tattooing. He currently works at Sacred Tattoo in NYC.**
This project (completion of sketches) spanned around 2 years from start to finish. This tattoo's initial purpose was as a cover up. A koi fish and multiple steampunk/mechanical inspired sketches were the very start of this project.
During this entire process I kept an active conversation with my friend to ensure that all parts of this project were being executed to his liking. Changes were made accordingly.
At this point a DNA capsule was going to be connected to the above sketch and we decided to add wires to "power" the piece, so a few adjustments were made.
END OF PHASE ONE
After these drawings, the tattoo finally came to life and changed from an image on paper to a tattooed artwork. This was such an exciting and purposeful experience for me. A sense of accomplishment and fact that someone loved my artwork so much as to put it on their body for the rest of their lives was an incredible feeling, unlike any other.
Next, I started to design a butterfly metamorphosis for the rest of the second sleeve. The metamorphosis was thought to wind around one arm from a half caterpillar half human form into a Blue Morpho butterfly. My process, as usual started with a detailed outline, then I added color with colored-pencils.
END OF PHASE TWO
The final phase of these sleeves would fill in the gaps and tie the whole story/experience together. I started my sketches as usual and made changes accordingly.
END OF PHASE THREE
Finished tattoo sleeves pending...
